Røros Museum has a rich collection of dresses and costumes from the end of the 1700s and during the 1800s.
"Gruvedrift i circumferensen" (mining inside the circumference)
In the museum building at "Olavsgruva" (Olav’s Mine) there is an exhibition "Gruvedrift i circumferensen" (Mining within the ca. 44,5 km circumference designated by Danish King Christian IV in 1646). The exhibition gives a short presentation of how the mines were operated at different periods and describes the miners’ working and living conditions.
"Geologien i Rørostraktene" (the geology of the Røros district)
In the museum building at "Olavsgruva" (Olav’s mine) there is an exhibition of the geology of the Røros district. It comprises geological maps of Norway and Røros and there are rock samples taken from the various mines in the district.
"Kobberverket" (The copper works)
The mining exhibition "Kobberverket" (the copper works) situated in the lower level of "Smelthytta" (the smeltery) shows examples of the methods used for mining and the smelting process in Røros in the 1700s and 1800s.
