"She had never heard that Sami people lived in Røros", exclaimed Laila Axman Bilben. Laila and the other southern Sami you will meet in the exhibition tell us what it is like to be Sami today. From their accounts and stories we get an insight into southern Sami history and culture.
The exhibition presents women and men of different ages, backgrounds and life styles but all have some connection to the Røros district. Each person presents an item of Sami culture that they have chosen themselves.
The exhibition was made by the Røros Museum as a travelling exhibit in 2001. The internet version is in three languages: Norwegian, Southern-Sami and English.
